      Alexander purchased a lot in Crab Orchard, Lincoln County, Kentucky, on March 5, 1866. He purchased the lot from Myron and Sarah E. Luce. Alexander paid $1,300 for the lot; he paid $1,000 up front; the remaining $300 remain unpaid at the time, but was secured by a note and due six months after the sale date. The Luces retained a lien on the land for the unpaid purchase price.
      The lot, 165 feet in width, was located on the Stanford Turnpike Road, and was situated between the lot owned by G.W. Evens and the 'acadamy' lot.

      A.C. Douglass was born August 1st 1840, in Kentucky, and died near Leora, April 22, 1923. He was 82 years old, 8 months and 15 days old at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Sullivan in 1870 who died in 1886. To this union six children were born, five of whom are still living. He came to Stoddard county in 1871, and has lived here ever since. He was a veteran of the Civil war, an Oddfellow and a faithful member of the Christian church. He was one of those strong pioneers who laid the foundation of our present great country. He was respected by all who knew him as a man of honesty, good neighbor and true to his convictions. He was a great sufferer during his last illness and almost blind for many months. Rev. G.A. Hoffmann conducted the funeral services assisted by members of the Puxico Lodge of Oddfellows and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Leora.

      Alexander Douglas was born on August 7th 1840 and died near Leora where he had lived many years on April 22nd 1923. He was 82 years, 8 months and 15 days old at the time of his death.
      In 1870 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Sullivan. To this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters, five of whom are still living.
      He came to Stoddard county in 1871 and lived here ever since. He was a veteran of the civil war, an Odd Fellow and a faithful member of the Christian church. He was one of those hardy pioneers who served their day and generation well. He was respected as a man of honesty and true worth by all who knew him. During his last illness he was almost blind for many months. Rev. G.A. Hoffman, his pastor, preached the funeral sermon in the church at Leora to a large congregation when the remains were laid away by the Oddfellows lodge of Puxico of which he was a member.
