      At the time Robert purchased this land, it appears it was located in sourthern Gasconade County, just to the north of Crawford County.
      The northern boundary of Crawford County was changed in 1870.

      Today, as with James White's land that he purchased in 29-40-4, this parcel of land sits in northern Crawford County.

      By present-day roads, this appears to be west of Highway 19; just south of (or along) State Highway F, north of High Point Road.

    • Family stories note that Robert J. and Margaret White were among the first group of parishioners who erected the first Catholic Church in Cuba, in the summer of 1880. The building was completed, only to be destroyed by a "hurricane" There is a stained glass window at Holy Cross Church, in Cuba, Missouri, dedicated in memory of Robert and Margaret.

    • Robert left a will, written November 29, 1901, Crawford County, Missouri. Robert wrote a codicil to his will on January 30, 1903.

      Robert named his five living children, plus his wife Margaret. He left his land* to Margaret, for her life or widowhood. After her death, the land was to be divided equally among his children. He left Margaret a sum of money, plus his wagon and team. All other personal property was to be divided among the children.
      Robert named daughter Cecillia as guardian for her brother Charles, and named son Robert and daughter Mary as executors.
      *The land is described as being in Section 27 and Section 32, Township 40, Range 5 West.

      I Robert J. White, of Crawford County, Missouri, being of sound mind and memory and realizing the uncertainty of life, do make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
      First, at my death I request my executors hereinafter named to pay all my just and lawful debts out of my personal property.
      Second: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret A. White the sum of Four Hundred Dollars, in lieu of personal dowery. I also give grant and bequeath her my said wife, Margaret A. White, the following described real property situated in Crawford County, Missouri, to wit: The south one half of south east quarter of Section numbered thirty tow and the northwest quarter of the north east quarter and the north east quarter of northwest quarter and the south one half of Northwest quarter of section Twenty seven, all being in Township Forty, North of Range Five West, for and during her natural life, or so long as she may remain my widow, with full right and authority to use, and occupy the same for her benefit, but without power or authority to sell or dispose of same, or encumber same, at the death of my said wife, or at her re-marriage, I hereby give and bequeath the above described real estate to my children, namely, Robert E. White, Charles F. White, Mary A. White, Cecellia White and Gertrude White in equal parts, except the said share or interest of my son Robert E. White, shall be diminished to the extent of the sum of Two Hundred Dollars which I have heretofore given to him as an advancement. After the payment of the sum of Four Hundred Dollars to my said wife as hereinfore provided I direct all the rest and residue of my personal property shall be equally divided between my said children above named. IN event of the death of my wife Margaret A. White before my death, then and in that event I hereby give, grant and bequeath all my property, whether personal, real or mixed to my said children, namely Charles F. White, Robert E. White, Mary A. White, Cecilia White and Gertrude White in fee simple absolutely in equal shares except the said share of my son Robert E. White in said estate shall be diminished to the extent of the sum of Two Hundred Dollars heretofore given by me to him as an advancement.
      Third: In event of my death before my youngest son Charles F. White shall have arrived at his majority I hereby direct and request that my son Robert E. White shall be appointed and act as his guardian.
      Fourth: I hereby appoint and constitute my son Robert E. White and my daughter Mary A. White my executor without being required to give bond, of this my last will and testament and hereby direct them, or in event of the death of either of them, the survivor of them to carry out the provisions of this will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal at Steelville, Crawford County, Missouri on this 29th day of November 1901.

    • I Robert J. White of Crawford County, Missouri, being of sound mind and memory, make this codicil to my will made November the 29th, 1901. I have reconsidered to appoint my daughter Cecilia White as Charles F. White guardian without bond, instead of Robert E. White as Charles F. White would rather have her for his guardian.
      And I also bequeath to my wife Margaret A. White our wagon and team besides what is mentioned in the will.
      In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal at my house in Crawford County, Missouri, on this 30th day of January 1903.

      January 20, 1907
      Robert White died at his home at Oak Hill Sunday morning and was buried at the Catholic cemetery in Cuba Tuesday at 11 a.m. Rev. P.B. O'Loughlin of Rolla conducted the funeral. Mr. White was one of the old residents of Crawford county, having lived near Oak Hill for more than forty years. He had been sick for some time.

      Death of Robert J. White
      Robt. J. White, a well known and successful farmer of Oak Hill township, died Sunday morning, January 20th, of pneumonia, and was buried in the Cuba Catholic Cemetery, Tuesday after Requiem mass and sermon the the Cuba Catholic Church, Rev. Father O'Loughlin officiating.
      Mr. White was 65 years old, was born in Ireland but brought to the United States at seven years of age and lived in Crawford County, and on the same farm for 38 years. In 1868 he married Miss Margaret Tayloe, of Gasconade County, who survives him with their three daughters and two sons, one havign died a few years ago. As a citizen and christian, deceased was all that coudl be desired and his name and example shall benefit a host of relatives and friends for years to come. May he rest in peace. The MIRROR extends sympathy to the bereaved ones.
